Registering to Vote:

To register to vote, you must meet these qualifications:

  • You must be a United States citizen
  • You must be at least 18 years old on or before the next election
  • You must live in your election precinct at least 30 days before the next election
  • You must not be convicted and in jail
  • You cannot claim the right to vote anywhere else

You must register at least 28 days before an election to vote in that election.
When registering, be sure to bring two forms of identification with you, one of which must have your correct address.
Naturalized citizens must also know the date and location of their naturalization or use their U.S. passport as one form of identification.

Through the DuPage County Election Commission, you can check to see if you are registered, find your polling place, view a sample ballot, and apply to vote by mail.

If you live in Carol Stream, then the DuPage County Election Commission is your board of elections.

- Registering in person can be done at the Village of Carol Stream and many village halls/townships in DuPage County.

- Registering in person can be done at the library, but you must call ahead to check if a deputy registrar will be available.
