Renewing materials

Renewals may be done in person, over the phone (630-653-0755) , through My Account on the Library’s website or by sending a text message using Shoutbomb. Three renewals per item are allowed, unless the item has been reserved. Online renewals must take place before the item is overdue.

Borrowing materials

You will need your library card or your photo identification in order to check out materials.

The maximum number of items allowed to be checked out per card is 75.

You may request that items be placed on reserve (on hold) either in person, by telephone, or through the library’s online catalog.

What to do if the Library doesn't own the material you want

Request a item for the collection or on interlibrary loan. Email suggestions to

Interlibrary loan
Items that are not available at the Carol Stream Public Library may be requested from other libraries. Patrons will be notified when items are available for pick up at the Carol Stream Public Library. Interlibrary loans are available for Carol Stream card holders only. Patrons are also responsible for any fees charged by the owning library.

Returning materials

Book drops are available twenty-four hours a day for all Library materials. When the Library is open, patrons are asked to return all materials inside the Library.
