50 States Book Club: INDIANA "All the Bright Places"

Join us for this month's meeting of the 50 States Book Club as we celebrate our great neighbor- Indiana! We will enjoy Indiana snacks and a discussion of Jennifer Niven's "All the Bright Places." Request a copy of the book at the Reference Desk.

Superheroes in the Movies

The Justice League will be uniting to save the world from alien invasion in theaters everywhere. Before that happens come learn all about the history of superheroes in the movies presented by Steve Frenzel.

Warning, some movie clips shown will be from PG-13 movies and may not be suitable for younger viewers.

Inquiring Minds Series: Living With Dying

Janet Wehr, author of "Peaceful Passages: A Hospice Nurse’s Stories of Dying Well" explores a loved one's transition between life and death.

The Carol Stream Public Library and the Theosophical Society in America’s Henry S. Olcott Memorial Library have received a grant from Reaching Across Illinois Libraries to host a local author series. This series will help our community explore the big questions of life and our human experience through the following topics presented this fall at the Carol Stream Public Library. Registration is required.

Conversation Practice for ESL

English practice for ESL learners at all levels offered in partnership with Literacy Dupage. No signup or preparation is necessary. All English as a second language learners are welcome and library membership is not required. Come when you can. This is an ongoing program.

Herbal Teas

Which herbs make the best-tasting teas? Sarine Cottreau of Serene Teaz, Inc. will discuss how to steep these herbs and offer samples. She will also discuss the health benefits of drinking herbal tea.

Leslie Goddard as Rachel Carson

Biologist and author Rachel Carson warned the world of the potentially dire environmental impact of chemical pesticides in her best-selling 1962 book, “Silent Spring.” In this living-history program, set in 1963, actress and historian Leslie Goddard portrays Carson as she discusses her life.

This program is co-sponsored by the Friends of the Carol Stream Library and the DuPage Organic Garden Club. The program will start at 7:00pm.

Resume Program for Women in Career Transition

Tamara Fay returns to discuss the importance of crafting a resume for women already in, looking to join, or rejoining the workforce.

She will discuss guidelines for writing a value-based resume, Highlight work and/or volunteer experiences, accomplishments and results, and then creating an impactful resume.
