One More Chapter Book Club (Offsite)

If you’ve ever said, “I’ll just read one more chapter!”, this is the club for you! Join us as we munch on Panera cookies and talk about The False Prince by Jennifer A. Nielsen. Get a free copy at the Youth Services Desk.

Crafternoon: Ice Cream in a Bag (Offsite)

Celebrate National Ice Cream Month by making your own! Shake up some homemade ice cream in a plastic bag, then add your favorite toppings for a cool, delicious treat. Weather permitting

At Armstrong Park: South end of the park off of Illini Drive entrance in the grassy area between basketball court and parking lot. Look for CSPL flags.

Step Up to High School (Offsite)

Starting high school can be an exciting but nerve-wracking change. Do you want to know what to expect? Hear from current high schoolers about their experiences and have a chance to ask all of your questions about what high school is really like.

Triwizard Tournament (offsite at Armstrong Park)

Put your wizarding skills to the test! Join us for outdoor Triwizard activities and make a bandana to support your Hogwarts House.

Location: Armstrong Park, 391 Illini Dr, Carol Stream, IL 60188. Meet at soccer field that is to the left of the baseball field. Weather permitting.

Project Teenlight Action Movie: Film Wrap

“Avengers, assemble!” We’re making an action movie this summer, starring you! Learn basic improv skills, create a theme, learn professional fight choreography, and star in a movie that you help make. This is the session where wrap up filming by shooting mostly dialogue scenes.
Part 2: Fight Choreography and Filming Thursday, July 18, 2 p.m.
Part 3: Film Wrap
Wednesday, August 7, 2 p.m.

Grades 6-12. Participants must register for all three classes.
Location: We’ll meet at the Library lobby and walk to Armstrong Park.

Project Teenlight Action Movie: Part 2 (Library)

“Avengers, assemble!” We’re making an action movie this summer, starring you! Learn basic improv skills, create a theme, learn professional fight choreography, and star in a movie that you help make. This is the session where we learn theater combat, then we film the action scenes. Now that we've plotted out our story, participants learn professional fight choreography.
Part 3: Film Wrap, Wednesday, August 7, 2 p.m.

Grades 6-12. Participants must register for all three classes.
Location: We’ll meet at the Library lobby and walk to Armstrong Park.

Project Teenlight Action Movie: Part 1 (Library)

“Avengers, assemble!” We’re making an action movie this summer, starring you! Learn basic improv skills, create a theme, learn professional fight choreography, and star in a movie that you help make. This session, we'll learn some improv and storytelling techniques and then we'll vote on which type of action genre we want to film for our July session.

Tournament Chess Series (Offsite)

This is for intermediate/advanced players who would like to play competitive matches. The summer will conclude with an inter-library chess tournament. More details available at the Youth Services Desk.

Drawing Harry Potter (Offsite)

You’re an artist, Harry! Beginners are welcome as we explore imagery from the beloved books and movies. We’ll study some of the chapter headings from the books. Art teacher Christine Thornton will teach you easy drawing techniques to capture the magic as you create your own small copy.
